
HTA Students Megin Meikle and Darren O’Donovan represented HTA at the Sunday Times Food Awards 2011, held on the 6th of October at the Foodcorp Innovation Centre in Cape Town.
Entrants were required to submit a menu reflecting modern South African cuisine, using specified ingredients. These entries were judged, and a shortlist of four finalists in each category was invited to compete in the finals held in Cape Town.
Megin and Darren competed in the Chef School Challenge category against teams from Capsicum Culinary Studio (Port Elizabeth) and Silwood School of Cookery, winning the title of “Top Chef School” for HTA and earning R5000 each in prize money for their hard work.
